In mid-November, thanks to a wild windstorm here in the Pacific Northwest that left us without power for 30 hours, the final batches of leaves descended from the two giant maple trees holding court in our front yard. That's because the US/Canada border has been closed since that time -- the longest I have not visited our friendly neighbors to the north. The current status is the border will remain closed until June 21, but according to recent reports, that date will most likely be extended once again.
