Biography

Journalist with more than two decades of experience in both television and print journalism. Currently serving as the National Political Editor for Hindustan Times, my work focuses on Indian politics, government policies, and electoral dynamics. I have covered and interviewed some of the most prominent figures in Indian politics from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, NCP founder Sharad Pawar, chief ministers, ministers and captains of industry like Indra Nooyi, Nandan Nilekani and Adar Poonawalla. I have written three books of non fiction: ● Braking News (2010): A political travelogue recounting a bus journey across the countryside covering the 2009 Indian general elections. ● Behind Bars: Prison Tales of India’s Most Famous (2017): This book offers an insight into life behind bars from the rich and famous to those caught unaware by circumstances. ● Black Warrant (2019): Co-authored with Sunil Gupta, this book tells the life story of a man's career witnessing the life and death of inmates over four decades. Accolades and Recognition I received the prestigious Red Ink Award in 2016 for my reporting on the adoption of disabled children in India. In 2018, I received the Mary Morgan Hewett award by the East West Center and I was also a Jefferson Fellow there. In 2020, I was selected to be an IVLP fellow and tracked the primaries in the US elections. I did my journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication with a Thomson Foundation diploma in journalism from Cardiff University in 2008.
