By Sydney Herdle| today.uconn.edu@ UConn students danced their hearts out this past weekend at the annual 18-hour HuskyTHON and raised $2,102,853.03 to benefit Connecticut Children’s. Patient families from Connecticut Children’s also were part of the event, including “miracle children” who have received treatment at the hospital. Each child was matched up with a student team.
By Elaina Hancock, Sydney Herdle| today.uconn.edu@ Despite a growing population on the Storrs campus and increasing concerns about water conservation, the steps that UConn is taking to be more sustainable are paying off. In 2013, UConn’s Reclaimed Water Facility (RWF) began providing hundreds of thousands of gallons of reclaimed water to campus every day, meaning less potable water is used to keep the campus running, for things like heating and cooling to flushing toilets in some buildings.
