The FBI contacted the Carthage police department after a threat was made on social media “showing daycare with alarming text overlay”. An immediate investigation began where officials learned that the suspect was a juvenile and has since been taken into custody. The case will be referred to District Attorney and Juvenile Probation for prosecution, the Carthage police department said.

  • East Texas man ran nationwide meth pill operation from rural property, gets 18-year sentence

    By Symone Sheppard| KETK-TV (Tyler, TX) Verified CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KETK) — An East Texas man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for running a nationwide counterfeit meth-laced pill operation from his rural property in Cherokee County. According to a release from U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Texas, Robert Jessie Martin, 47 of Alto, was sentenced to 18 years and four mounts in prison on Thursday. The Tyler Morning Telegraph is a daily newspaper based in Tyler, Texas. The newspaper began publishing weekly in 1877 as the Weekly Courier. In 1882, the publication frequency was increased to daily and the name was changed to the Daily Courier. In 1906, the Daily Courier and the Weekly Times consolidated into The Tyler Courier-Times. In 1910, the newspaper sold to the Butler family who owned the company for 108 years. The Tyler Morning Telegraph, which featured expanded coverage of East Texas cities, debuted Nov. 14, 1929 under the leadership of the Butler family. The Courier-Times continued to publish in the afternoons and focused on Tyler news for subscribers within the city limits. On Oct. 31, 1995, the company ended publication of its afternoon newspaper. Today the Tyler Morning Telegraph is part of a larger family owned media company named M. Roberts Media which is owned by members of the Morris Roberts family. Justin Wilcox currently serves as Publisher.
