Biography
I Tahir Ibn Manzoor am a journalist currently based in New Delhi where I am working as a staffer for https://sportzwiki.com. I have a great affection for long-form feature writing. I completed my masters in Convergent Journalism from the Central University of Kashmir, with a specialisation in narrative journalism. My project topic as part of the course was ‘Cricket in Kashmir’. Since then, I have taken to sports journalism full-time and have worked for a number of reputed organisations. Notable publications where my works have appeared over the years include ESPN Cricinfo, Cricket Addictor, The Sun, Daily Mail, Metro UK, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Cricbuzz, Wisden India, Forbes, Dawn, Times of India, The Cricketer, Cricket Paper, Sportzwiki, TRT World, Forbes, Aljazeera, Femina, Kashmir Observer, Greater Kashmir, Gulf News, The Quint, The Wire etc. While cricket remains my primary beat, I also cover varied subjects. Also, I followed cricket like food after listening to running commentary on a transistor radio when I was only eight, and penned down the scorecard when I turned 11. I consider myself as the Test match blogger – technically the wall at the grubby courtyard where I had scored runs in tons eating buns while feeding hens in a coop – normatively and narratively TORPID – statistically averages MINUS who aimed BIRDS and WINDOW PANES of his neighbours with his nine-year-old ALPHA BAT that died over a FREE-HIT. Known as the wall (who saw wickets tumbling at the other end) unlike Rahul Sharad Dravid, the wicket-keeper batsman once in a blue moon tried OFF-SPIN and LEG-SPIN, but failed in the long run. Well, my best memory in cricket comes from a sweep shot and a last-ball match-winning straight six off a remarkable congealed maidan spinner in a countryside match. Now, I virtually bat at Twitter @TahirIbnManzoor, and that too, down the order. Connect me for the freelance gig at tahiribnmanzoor.dcj[@]gmaildotcom.
