Beginning in the early 2000s, club president Carrie Wagner said, the organization recognized the critical importance of access to books for young learners and initiated a program to provide books to Head Start at Wayne Hills Preschool Center.

(WHSV) - The peak season for the Wildlife Center of Virginia to typically receive orphaned or injured black bear cubs is between February and June. The organization is the only one in the commonwealth with staff who are allowed to raise the cubs, which spend 12 months in the center’s care until they are eventually released. In 2025, the Wildlife Center will release seven bears from varying backgrounds who came in as cubs in 2024 back into the wild.
