The mortality rate for first year bald eagles is a little over 50% which is better than for most raptors. This shot was taken just a couple of weeks after he left the nest … likely about 12 to 15 weeks old and he is full size already.

Fresh and a mission to fly!Below are a couple of male Grackles that I shot down at the ponds this afternoon. Most of the other birds and ducks have already split for the summer and we’ll see them this fall as they reverse direction for the fall migration.
