By Terrell Starr| shorturl.at@ I’m sorry, Ukraine. I’m sorry that White America elected a man who’ll embolden your genocidal neighbor to murder even more of your people and occupy more of your land. I’m sorry that the American white supremacy that has long terrorized my people will empower Russian supremacy to reign further terror on yours. I preface my letter with white America because we did not do this.

By Terrell Starr| Substack@ When I wrote my first article about Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2015, my white editors at a so-called progressive website tried to shut it down. It was an exhaustive reported piece about why he struggled to gain traction with Black voters he needed to win the Democratic primary in 2016, during his first presidential run. My editors said the piece needed more reporting, used faulty polling and needed more editing, which I obviously disagreed with.

Black Diplomats
Black Diplomats is a podcast about American foreign policy and politics from a Black perspective. We tackle complicated issues for a general audience and interview the experts who are ignored by mainstream media. The foreign affairs conversation is dominated by the same white men on every network and in every think tank, but we're breaking through that barrier with women and people of color who have the credentials, but don't get the opportunities. Host and founder Terrell J. Starr is a Russian-speaker and expert on the former Soviet bloc who travels to Eastern Europe regularly. He is a political journalist at The Root, America's largest Black media platform, and lecturer on how race impacts politics globally.
