By Terrie Morgan-Besecker| Standard Speaker Verified Two Luzerne County officials are calling on the county to investigate a disproportionately low number of elder abuse cases being reported to and substantiated by the Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Area Agency on Aging over the past six years. State data shows that from fiscal years 2016-2017 to 2021-2022, the agency received an annual average of 396 reports of elderly abuse, or 44 for every 10,000 residents age 60 and above, the second-lowest rate in the state.
