Truman, the 33rd president of the United States. As a footnote to history, it was cousin Vic who saved Truman’s life in battle. While documented in David McCullough’s brilliant biography, “Truman,” the incident is downplayed in most historic accounts, likely because Truman never emphasized it. Truman was a common man who served his country with courage, integrity and humility.
