As a dedicated sportsman with an unwavering love for sports, it was inevitable that I entered the sphere of sports journalism. My journey in sports has been crafted by my love for playing and, most importantly, the teams I support and inherited from my father. From the early days, going to watch sports captivated me, whether it was football or rugby; there was nothing else comparable. To this day, there is nothing like sitting in the lane, and it saddens me to think I cannot attend another Wasps game. Nevertheless, my love for sports drove me towards this career path as I started to regularly consume sports media content. Journalists like Alasdair Gold and Charlie Eccleshare continue to serve as inspiration for my future endeavors. My academic pursuits in three essay-based subjects have provided me with a solid foundation for a career in journalism, honing my skills in research, writing, and close analysis. This, along with my EPQ, has given me a solid backbone to continue my education in journalism at the university. This will allow me to further develop my skillset and put me on track to become a fully-fledged journalist. In the last two years, I have aimed to evolve my journalistic abilities. To do this, I reached out to a number of publications. And in the summer, I started work experience for The Hochey Paper; this allowed me to learn the key skills needed to work in the industry. Alongside this, I also started to produce football articles for Spurs Web. Here, I have produced articles regularly and have received such supportive feedback. I have covered a range of topics and have had the opportunity to interview leaders of fan movements and even photographers. This experience has been so unique and has allowed me the freedom to advance. In the most recent summer I was able to complete a week of work experience at NewsUK, where we had regular talks with people in journalism, marketing, HR, finance, law, tech, and we even had a Q&A with The Times editor, Tony Gallagher. Most recently, I got my first print byline in the stunning Pitch Magazine. My page covered Mark Cavendish breaking the Tour de France win record.
