The provincial Transportation Ministry says Highway 3A will be closed to traffic until at least Saturday as workers assess the slope’s stability before beginning cleanup efforts at the site near Yellow Lake. The affected highway connects the communities of Kaleden and Keremeos, southwest of Penticton.

Supreme Court upheld his conviction and sentence for illegally killing a black bear and her cub in Tofino. Ryan Owen Millar was found guilty of one count of killing a black bear outside of hunting season, and one count of killing a black bear younger than two years old, after he shot the animals with arrows in 2021.

  • Man seriously injured, suspect at large after stabbing in Nanaimo, B.C.

    By Todd Coyne Verified| CTV-TV (Vancouver, BC) Verified Mounties are searching for a suspect after a man sustained serious injuries in a stabbing Monday in downtown Nanaimo, B.C.A statement from the local RCMP detachment says the victim was stabbed during an altercation in the parking lot of a TD Bank on Nicol Street just before 2 p.m. Police, paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene and found the victim “a short distance away with apparent stab wounds,” the Nanaimo RCMP said Tuesday. The man was transported to hospital for treatment.
