By Tom Barclay Verified| WBIR-TV (Knoxville, TN) Verified KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Update (11:30 p.m.): Several emergency crews responded to a crash on Chapman Highway that happened after a stolen vehicle chase that went into South Knox County on Friday night. The incident began near Rockford when a Blount County deputy tried to pull over a vehicle on Old Knoxville Highway near Sam Houston School Road, according to Marian O'Briant, the Blount County Sheriff's Office public information officer. She said the vehicle was reported stolen.

By Tom Barclay Verified| WBIR-TV (Knoxville, TN) Verified JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A portion of Interstate 81 and a rest stop had to be closed on Friday as crews responded to a hazmat incident in Jefferson County. According to the White Pine Fire Department, crews responded to a semi-truck carrying a trailer filled with solid chemicals. Fire Chief Derrick Layman said the internal temperature of the chemicals rose above operating levels, so crews responded to cool the cargo. Teams could be seen spraying water on the exterior of the trailer.
