Although my kids and I had an early Thanksgiving​ —​ three weeks ago​ —​ I’d planned to enjoy a second Thanksgiving with extended family in Boulder. However, I canceled my plans when the winter weather advisory was posted the day before Thanksgiving. I feared falling on unfamiliar, slippery streets and sidewalks on Thanksgiving evening. I didn’t want to risk ending up in the Emergency Department with a broken bone.
