Biography

I'm a journalist, copywriter, travel lover, and expert on vintage beauty and style (founder of The Blusherettes, vintage hair and makeup artists (www.theblusherettes.co.uk). I cover home decor, lifestyle and shopping for consumer press and write about HR, L&D, training, education and small business but can turn my hand to any topic. My experience is pretty vast - almost 20 years. I started in a features agency writing for the nationals and women's weeklies including Closer, Best, Bella, Take a Break, Real People, Chat, Reveal, The Sun, The Mirror and The Daily Mail. After a stint editing some business titles, I worked as a content provider for a personal finance website before heading into online publishing. I was editor of TrainingZone.co.uk for three years before returning to consumer print magazines at Immediate Media. Here I wrote for Cardmaking & Papercraft, Cross Stitch Crazy, Love Knitting, Craftseller, Love Crochet, Love Baking and pretty much all of their craft titles. I also trained as a sub-editor/production editor and provided freelance cover across many of their titles. Other commissions over the years have been for Psychologies, In the Moment, regular work for BBC Countryfile, MyCustomer.com, and regular commissions for People Management and HRD Connect. I have my own copywriting business 'Cut the Mustard Copy' and work with clients on all different projects from ghost writing blog posts, white papers and reports to newsletters, mail-outs and managing social media accounts. In 2017 I helped launch regional glossy Shire Magazine where I was production editor, stylist and writer and formerly covered the beat for the Living magazines (Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales).

These are the sorts of scenarios that send most of us scurrying to Google – and then, inevitably, YouTube.
