Biography
I'm from Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Maryland. I've always loved business and the outdoors. I've managed to combine both and own two successful businesses, in Vail, CA, and San Diego. I'm currently a writer and speaker based in San Diego as well as a family caregiver for my parents. They are exploring cannabis at 85 for the first time in their lives. I'm writing about it and researching it. We are working with their medical doctors and my researched plans for consumption and dosing amounts. Both my parents and their medical teams are seeing health improvements and we are documenting all of this for my writing and a youtube channel soon to launch on Seniors, Caregivers, and Cannabis. I advocate for seniors, caregivers, and women. I'm a columnist for the San Diego Union-Tribune and write for various media outlets.

By Veronica Mitchell| The San Diego Union-Tribune Verified In January 2020, I posed a question to readers, asking for the top 5 stressors in their lives as family caregivers. I wanted to connect with readers and motivate more of them to reach out to me with stories about their real-life experiences in current times. Two months later, California was issuing stay-in-place orders because of a once-in-a-century pandemic that was creating a global health crisis.
By Veronica Mitchell| The San Diego Union-Tribune Verified May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which makes it a good time to write about mental health and caregiving through COVID-19. There are a number of expert mental health websites to find information on specific issues, illnesses and local resources, and I encourage readers to connect with organizations like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Mental Health America, a leading community-based nonprofit that is focused on improving the mental health of Americans.
