  • Best of the Book Nook: 'In His Own Voice: Dramatic & Other Uncollected Works of Paul Lawrence Dunbar'

By Vick Mickunas| WYSO-FM (Dayton, OH) Verified Original recording made in 201411 years ago I did an interview with Herbert Woodward Martin for hispoetry collection "On the Flyleaf." Herb Martin has spent the last 50+years sharing the work of the Dayton poet Paul Lawrence Dunbar. After wefinished taping that show I said to Herb that it felt somewhat peculiarto have done another interview with him without having him recite anypoetry by Dunbar. We decided on the spot to record a second programright then that would be all about Dunbar. So we did.

  • Best of the Book Nook: 'A History of America in Thirty-Six Postage Stamps' by Chris West

By Vick Mickunas| WYSO-FM (Dayton, OH) Verified Original recording made in 201411 years ago when I talked to Chris West about his history of U.S. Postage stamps the U.S. Postal Service was under threat. As of today the threats to this essential service have become even more significant. Ifelt it was a good time to dust off this interview from 2014 to remind listeners about the importance of the U.S.P.S. as well as the beauty of the postage stamps that have been adorning our mail since 1847.
