As recently as 10 to 15 years ago, trees lined the downtown business area. The earliest of these were planted before 1992—possibly around a decade earlier, according to former town manager Allen Coyne. He mentioned that the intention was to replace them every 20 to 25 years, but due to a lack of interest in replanting, they were ultimately removed between 2010 and 2015.
