The ordinance was created jointly with the towns of Rutherfordton and Spindale. The ordinance prohibits camping and loitering on public property. It also specifically prohibits public defecation and urination. Town manager Dr. Janet Mason said there have been complaints from business owners and this ordinance will help law enforcement address the concerns.
