Journalist/Editorialist for 15+ years, Columbia Non-Fiction MFA, Comedian and Podcaster. Founded FilmDrunk, an irreverent movie blog, in 2007, while getting my MFA in non-fiction from Columbia. FilmDrunk was acquired by Uproxx in 2009, where I've worked full-time ever since, currently as the Senior Film & Culture Editor. That means I write movie reviews, profiles, interviews, and opinion pieces, as well as features on travel, food, and drink (my travel writing, food challenges, and Top Chef rankings are especially popular). Helped turn Uproxx from parent company with no homepage into a digital media company with 26 million unique visitors monthly (I was the second hire and currently the most senior Uproxx employee). I've also written for GQ, Maxim, The Portland Mercury, The East Bay Express, and a few others. Received MFA in 2010, with a book-length thesis of essays and short stories. In 2013, I successfully Kickstarted and starred in a documentary about The Gathering of The Juggalos, called 'Whoop Dreams.' I've also been a stand-up comedian since the mid 2000s and run a popular podcast, The FilmDrunk Frotcast. I have sporadic TV appearances and on-camera experience, going back to my days as the cult film correspondent for The Grid on IFC. Interests include movies, food, drink, travel, comedy, dogs, and sports (especially MMA).
