Biography

A multilingual journalist with proven experience in Europe and Asia, working with prestigious international media outlets and NGOs such as Deutsche Welle, CNN, Reporters Without Borders, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Germany‘s federal foreign office. Specialized in topics including Security, migration, war and peace, and human rights. I am a 26-year-old Afghan journalist in Berlin, gainfully employed by Deutsche Welle. In the aftermath of Afghanistan's subjugation to the Taliban, I made a calculated choice to seek sanctuary in Germany, arriving in October 2021. Concomitant with my pivotal role at DW, I find myself esteemed in the capacity of a journalist for "The New Humanitarian." Preceding this position, I had the privilege of aligning myself with the prestigious organization, Reporters Without Borders, situated in Berlin. In my relentless pursuit of intellectual and vocational development, I presently find myself deeply engrossed in a master's program dedicated to international media and cultural endeavors at the distinguished University of Darmstadt in Germany. My academic trajectory commenced with the successful culmination of studies within the esteemed Journalism and Communication faculty at Kabul University. During my tenure in Kabul, I had the privilege of contributing significantly as a journalist for eminent media entities, namely Tolonews TV, CNN, and GIZ, each offering invaluable opportunities to delve into weighty subjects such as politics, human rights, feminism, and migration – topics that invigorate my ardent passion and compel me to advocate for their resolute exploration. In addition to my native acumen in Pashto and Persian, I have assiduously honed my linguistic aptitude in German and English, thereby enabling me to proficiently engage and report on multifarious global issues. I derive profound gratification from illuminating salient matters through my journalistic exertions, remaining steadfast in my unwavering commitment to leveraging the formidable power of media and narrative to effectuate positive change.
