Black Girl Environmentalist is a national organization founded in 2021 by environmental justice activist Wawa Gatheru. The organization is committed to empowering Black girls, women, and gender-expansive individuals in the climate movement. Its mission focuses on addressing barriers to participation and retention in environmental work, ensuring these groups are centered in the fight against the climate crisis.
