I spent the bulk of my summer training — mixing in long runs with tempos and speed work — all the while traveling across the country for work. Just as I started to pick up the mileage in August, about six weeks before the race, my Achilles began to act up. The injury took me out for weeks. Luckily, I healed enough to run the race this past weekend. And boy, am I glad I did.

It's a combination of my desperate attempt at coping with my existential dread alongside my inability to find a proper focus in life. I have a deep-seated desire to want to achieve something real and tangible. Running gives me a sense of purpose. And these past few years, I've grown obsessed.
