  • Great Western Highway's section 'to nowhere' opens amid pork-barrelling claims

Motorists can now travel on a dual-lane carriageway that bypasses the village of Little Hartley, east of Lithgow. After that traffic merges back onto the old route, which offers one lane each way. Sharon Tofler runs the Lolly Bug, which sits on the old stretch of the highway, and is not a fan of the new road.

  • Former Bathurst school teacher accused of historical child sex offences

The man, aged 68, taught at a Bathurst school in the late 1980s. He was arrested at Sydney International Airport on Saturday and charged with 20 offences, including sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10.
