  • Microscopy Nodes: versatile 3D microscopy visualization with Blender

By Oane J Gros, Chandni Bhickta, Yannick Schwab Verified, Granita Lokaj| bioRxiv@ AbstractEffective visualization of 3D microscopy data is essential for communicating biological results. While scientific 3D rendering software is specifically designed for this purpose, it often lacks the flexibility found in non-scientific software like Blender, which is a free and open-source 3D graphics platform. However, loading microscopy data in Blender is not trivial.

  • Sensing their plasma membrane curvature allows migrating cells to circumvent obstacles - Nature Communications

By Julian Stopp, Jakub Czuchnowski, Marc Siggel, Aline Tschanz, Yannick Schwab Verified, Anna Kreshuk, Ewa Sitarska, Marianne Sandvold Beckwith| Nature Verified AbstractTo navigate through diverse tissues, migrating cells must balance persistent self-propelled motion with adaptive behaviors to circumvent obstacles. We identify a curvature-sensing mechanism underlying obstacle evasion in immune-like cells. Specifically, we propose that actin polymerization at the advancing edge of migrating cells is inhibited by the curvature-sensitive BAR domain protein Snx33 in regions with inward plasma membrane curvature.
