Biography

I’m Zena V. Magto, and I write for a living. You may also know me as “XenaidaMagFive,” which I use as a username almost everywhere. You can try running a quick Google search, which will eventually link to all my socials. Aside from that, I love spacing out, which is my way of diving into my thoughts. I love to write, read, and to learn. I also have a weakness when it comes to sweets, milk, pens, notebooks, papers, anime, and music. I last attended the University of San Jose-Recoletos, in Cebu City, Philippines, where I got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Among my siblings, I’m the only one who took an arts degree, since they all major in Computer Engineering, Science and Information Technology. I took my internship at Cebu Daily News Digital in July 2018 and immediately worked as a correspondent until my graduation. I continued until June 2019. I covered news stories on crime, police, disaster and local government units. I was a former staff editor at “The Messenger,” Naga National High School’s official school publication. In college, I became a News Editor at “The Purveyor,” and manages its social pages. On 2017, I became the pioneering president of the Josenian Journalism Axis under the Department of Journalism and Communications, in the University of San Jose – Recoletos, Cebu City. I also have a handful of experience in music. I am a member of a local church choir named “Mary’s Youth Chorus” (MYC) and serves as the group’s choir director. I also belong to a singing quartet, “Fourth Mix.” I was once a member of the Naga National High School Choir for two years as Alto, and also the prestigious University of the Visayas Chorale for six months as Alto 1.
